LAE Football Report

LAE's football team played against St Dunstan's College for the first time yesterday and won in a tightly fought 5-4 victory. What a game!

The entire team worked incredibly hard to achieve this brilliant result.

Going into the second half 3-1 down, players demonstrated amazing resilience by not allowing the uncharacteristic mistakes of the first half to affect their mindset going into the second. Instead, they forced the game to swing in their favour, levelling it back to a 3-3 draw with 12 minutes to go. Then, despite LAE having all the momentum, a soft penalty was awarded to St Dunstan's putting the score at 4-3 in St Dunstan's favour.

Despite this setback, the team did not become despondent and managed to score another goal shortly after and then Kofi scored the winning goal, courtesy of a cushioned pass by Dave. In the end LAE managed a thoroughly deserved win and we would like to give a special mention to Kofi for scoring four out of five goals.

Defensive duties were rotated throughout the game, however, Hamidu stayed as centre back throughout and put on an excellent performance earning him Player of the Match.

Congratulations to the entire squad: Russell McDonnell, Andrew Apetri, Krish Kumar, Papon Nur, Dave Chukwuonu, Yasser Ayoub, Christian Labella, Kofi Awuah, Arnau Sheikh, Subhan Amin Mohammed, Hassan Ubaydullayev, Hamidu Jah, Stefano Diarra and Fabian Showkat.
