What We Offer

Our curriculum

The LAE curriculum is designed to cultivate expertise and character traits that will enable students from all backgrounds to access the most demanding, most rewarding degrees, degree-equivalent courses, and professions. We want to develop academically resilient learners who are fully prepared to lead happy, productive adult lives and to contribute positively to society.

The LAE curriculum is inherently holistic: it is built around academically rigorous A-Levels and includes a wide range of co- and super-curricular activities. Running throughout our curriculum are high quality careers education, information, advice and guidance and a thorough understanding of democratic society in Britain and beyond. The LAE curriculum foregrounds our school values of Independence, Humility, Kindness, Resilience and Respect.

LAE provides sixth formers with 5 hours of lessons a week in each A-level subject. All learners in Year 12 study four subjects and most in Year 13 study three subjects. Please click here for LAE's Entry Requirements.

Our extended curriculum means that LAE students’ study programme meets and far exceeds the government expectations for 16 to 19 study programmes which are typically delivered in 600 hours.

For more information about our curriculum, please read our Curriculum Policy.  You can direct any outstanding queries to office@lae.ac.uk.
