Celebrating City Giving Day at Latham & Watkins

Wednesday 23 September was City Giving Day in the City of London, and LAE students and Headteacher Eve Rahman joined colleagues at Latham & Watkins, LAE’s lead partner, to celebrate the occasion.

The event gave students the opportunity to meet Latham employees and learn more about the firm’s work with its charity partners. Representatives from partner organisations also came together to share their work and highlight the difference that Latham’s support makes in communities across London and beyond.

Latham & Watkins has supported LAE students for several years, with dozens of employees volunteering their time each year. This includes professional mentoring, supporting students with Oxbridge applications, and hosting networking and careers development events at the firm’s London office.

For LAE students, these opportunities provide valuable insight into professional life and introduce them to experiences and networks that can help them make informed decisions about their futures.

Among those attending was LAE alumna Jemma, who left LAE this year to begin studying Law at the University of Cambridge, having benefitted from the support of Latham colleagues throughout her university application process. Jemma is now considering a future career at the firm herself.

The Lady Mayor, Dame Susan Langley, also joined the celebrations, giving students the chance to meet her and hear more about her role.

City Giving Day is organised by the Lord Mayor’s Appeal and celebrates the contribution that businesses and charities make across the City and wider community. The annual event encourages philanthropy, volunteering and community engagement, while highlighting the impact of partnerships such as that between LAE and Latham & Watkins.
