Kami wins Kavita Singh PPE Essay Competition
Year 12 student Kami has won the prestigious Kavita Singh Essay Competition, for an outstanding essay in politics, philosophy or economics.
The prize, hosted by St Hughs College Oxford, is awarded to three sixth form students each year. Kami won in the economics category, with an essay analysing the question, Can we address climate change at the same time as maintaining positive economic growth?
Kami is an economics student in Year 13 at LAE. She enjoyed the opportunity to put her economics knowledge into practice and carry out independent research into the topics of the economic considerations of tackling climate change. Analysing perspectives from ecological scientists and economists from recent years, she puts forward an argument for governments to implement policies such as emissions caps and international aid funding for green growth.
