Two LAE teams place top in Imperial Science in Medicine Prizes
LAE Students placed second in the 2025 Imperial Science in Medicine Conference Lung Prize, with a separate LAE team winning the Cancer Prize.
Both teams presented their projects in poster format to a panel of academic, who asked questions about their designs, their benefits and the proposed costs of manufacturing them.
The Cancer Research Prize team wowed the judges with their project, NeuroeaseNeuroease, a therapeutic tool to treat painful side-effects of chemotherapy treatment in the form of a glove worn by the patient.
LAE's Lung Prize team developed FIBRO-ON-THE-GOFIBRO-ON-THE-GO, "the first at-home diagnostic test for pulmonary fibrosis".
On 20 January, the Lung Prize team were invited, along with the other top three schools, to visit the Imperial Centre for Translational and Experimental Medicine (ICTEM), where they enjoyed a tour of the labs at Imperial, and a lecture from professors in the biomedical fields.
The Prize is split into five categories across various sectors, and aims stretch students beyond the school curriculum, understand the importance of a multidiscliplinary approach to effective research in public health, and develop their communication and strategic thinking skills.
Congratulations to Elsa, Miriam, Henry, Emil, Saif, Vivian for their second place in the Lung Prize and to Aanya, Abdihakim, Chidimma, Keerthi, Divine, Isa for winning the Cancer Research Prize.
