Apply to LAE Stratford
We are no longer accepting applications for September 2021 entry.
We will enrol our new Year 12 on GCSE results day: Thursday 12 August 2021.
Offer-holders will be sent a link to our online enrolment form at 08:00 on the morning of the 12th August. They will then be able to submit their final GCSE results, attach their transcripts and complete the form. They will need to attach a scan/image of official ID. If they were born in the UK, a Passport or Birth Certificate. If they were not born in the UK, then an up-to-date Passport is required.
The results will be reviewed by the Headteacher and Deputy Head (academic) who will invite offer-holders to come in to enrol during one of two enrolment windows. Only offer holders who have met or exceeded the minimum grades and subject requirements for their chosen subjects will be invited to enrol.
The following factors will be used to determine the order of enrolment on GCSE results day:
- Looked after children (LACs) and children for whom LAE is the named provider on an EHCP.
- Offer holders who have a parent or carer employed by LAE for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission was made.
- GCSE GPA and grades for subjects that the offer holder wishes to study.
- Offer holders who are currently or have previously been (within the last six years), eligible for Free School Meals.
- Offer holders from Newham state secondary schools.
- Offer holders wishing to study subjects or combinations that contribute to curriculum balance and subject capacity.
Students invited in will need to bring a £50 deposit to cover the loan of equipment and textbooks. This is refundable at the end of the two year programme of study.
Because of the need to verify students’ identities and have a one to one meeting with a senior teacher to discuss their programme of study, all enrolments must be made in person by the student at LAE Stratford, where safety precautions will be in place.
In the case of students self-isolating or in quarantine for personal or public health reasons, a remote enrolment meeting will be offered. Regrettably, we are unable to enrol students who are abroad remotely due to the additional pressure this puts on staff capacity.
Confirmation of the offer is conditional on meeting the minimum entry requirements and subject specific entry requirements which can be found here and in Appendix 1 of our Admissions Policy.
Like all other sixth forms, colleges and universities, LAE makes more conditional offers each year than it has places. This is to compensate for the fact that some students apply to multiple providers and ultimately choose to enrol elsewhere, whilst others do not achieve the GCSE results they need to meet their offer and subject requirements
As a result, LAE is clear that meeting a conditional offer is not a guarantee of a place, with all enrolments subject to there being sufficient space on chosen courses.
We will contact offer-holders to let them know once we have reached capacity and to advise them to enrol elsewhere.
We recommend that all offer-holders have at least one back-up college, particularly if they wish to take high-demand subjects: Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Physics, Psychology.
Similarly, while every effort is made to ensure offer-holders can enrol onto their chosen courses, LAE reserves the right to withdraw or change provision (for example, if ⯠a⯠subject⯠is fully enrolled, there is a timetable clash orâ¯total â¯capacity has been reached).
If you did not receive a conditional offer you will be able to join a waiting list for spare places. Please note that we cannot guarantee that there will be spare places and the chances of there being any are very low.
