Eve Rahman appointed LAE Headteacher

Eve Rahman will become the school’s next substantive Headteacher from September 2026. Ms. Rahman, who has spent almost 20 years teaching in East London schools, will be the LAE’s fifth Head and the first woman to serve in that capacity. Her appointment also marks the first time an internal candidate has secured the LAE’s Headship.

Ms. Rahman has been with the LAE since 2022, initially as Deputy Headteacher and more recently as Head of School. She has been a central driver of one of the most successful periods in the school’s history. As Head, she will oversee the school’s occupation of its new home, Hawthorne House, and will build on the success of the current Head, Alex Crossman, who will relocate to Rome over the Summer to become Principal of St. George’s British International Schools.

Ms. Rahman was appointed following a national recruitment campaign and against a strong field of external candidates, including several established Heads.  Tony Little, the LAE’s Chair of Governors, said: “Eve’s evident commitment to the vision of LAE and her commitment to students shone throughout the recruitment process. The Governing Body has every confidence that she will be an exceptional Headteacher for our school.”

Ms. Rahman is married with three children and lives in Newham.
